2016 Cabelas Springfield Store Knap-in Announcement

April 30th and May 1st

  The Puget Sound Knappers have been invited back to Cabelas' Springfield Store for the 3rd year in a row to demonstrate flintknapping to its customers!  This year's event will take place the weekend of  April 30th and May 1st.  Store hours are Saturday 8:00am to 9:00pm (we only stay until about 5:00pm) and Sunday 9:00am until 7:00pm (again we only stay until 5:00pm)

This has been a great event for the PSK, increasing awareness and providing a chance to meet new knappers as well as those that want to learn the ancient art of flintknapping.  Henry is always looking for more PSK members to help out as there are always plenty of people interested in learning the ancient art of flintknapping!

For those who want to stay overnight Cabelas allows overnight camping in their parking lot.  There are usually a couple of semis but room for a couple dozen RVs.

Directions and Map

Heading South on I-5 (from the north/Portland)

  1. Traveling south on I-5, merge onto OR-569 E/Beltline HWY E via EXIT 195A toward N. Springfield/Gateway Mall.
  2. Turn right onto Gateway St.
  3. Turn right onto Gateway Loop and continue to west side (I-5 side) of Gateway Mall.
  4. 2800 Gateway St is on the left.

Heading North on I-5 (from the south/Roseburg):

  1. Traveling north on I-5, take the OR-569 E/Beltline HWY exit 195A towards theGateway Mall.
  2. Stay right and turn right onto Gateway St.
  3. Turn right onto Gateway Loop and continue to west side (I-5 side) of Gateway Mall.
  4. 2800 Gateway St is on the left.

Heading East on HWY 126 (from the west/Florence):

  1. Heading east on HWY 126, take the I-5N exit.
  2. Merge into right lane.
  3. Take the OR-569 E/Beltline HWY exit 195A towards the Gateway Mall.
  4. Stay right and turn right on Gateway St.
  5. Turn right onto Gateway Loop and continue to west side (I-5 side) of Gateway Mall.
  6. 2800 Gateway St is on the left.

Heading west on HWY 126 (from the east/Bend):

  1. Traveling West on HWY 126 take the I-5 North Exit.
  2. Merge into right lane.
  3. Take the OR-569 E/Beltline HWY exit 195A towards the Gateway Mall.
  4. Stay right and turn right onto Gateway St.
  5. Turn right onto Gateway Loop and continue to west side (I-5 side) of Gateway Mall.
  6. 2800 Gateway St is on the left.
